Spring has sprung, and we’ve got many reasons to be optimistic. So, why are so many of us still stressed, tired and sympathetic with this sculpture? Five years of poisonous politics, layered with 15 months of Covid-19…enough to take its toll on most of us. Memorial Day reminds us of the ultimate sacrifice. So, the least we can do is raise our game in civic engagement to honor those who enabled our attempts at self-governance. We The People are better than this. Our children deserve better than this. Come join me, and consider some positive options. LET’S MOSEY!
Read moreTHANKS, "FRANK"...FOR MY/THE SPRING AWAKENING!
The past many months of harsh politics, severe weather and Covid-19 have teed us up beautifully for a Spring Awakening. The brown-to-green seasonal metamorphosis is a very real life-cycle metaphor for our natural world and our politics. Many of us, this writer included, have had the opportunity to slow down, catch our breaths and learn to pay attention to nature’s beauty. Can this raised awareness prompt us to be better stewards?

Wow, What a year! Of Covid-19, too much nasty politics, and we Texans got a bad freeze as our love tap reminder from Mama Nature. But, we learned things. About ourselves, relationships, governments and priorities. I certainly did. Come along on this photo travelogue of my meanderings, and put them in context with your own. We’ve yet to extricate the current resident of 1600 Penn., and we’re still in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, so energy and optimism are in short supply. As Joe Biden prepares for his ascendency, we need to convert our best civic impulses to action. As I see it, we’ve had Revelations, experienced some Revolutions, and are poised to make Resolutions. Come join me. Let’s resolve to do better.

We’re experiencing the Great Unmasking of America, and that has nothing to do with Halloween. The past 5 years have given us the chance to see the real truth behind our masks of partisanship and phony rhetoric. We realize we can only fool ourselves and others for so long. The political dysfunction and covid-19 challenges require us to wear the healthiest mask and remove the other, so we can be most effectively engaged in community re-building. I’ve got great confidence that we can rise to our occasion. Our Country’s counting on us! Perhaps this Mosey Commentary will help you consider your role.
