We’re eager to leap into 2021, but it won’t be that easy. We’ve yet to extricate the current resident of 1600 Penn., and we’re still in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, so energy and optimism are in short supply. As Joe Biden prepares for his ascendency, we need to convert our best civic impulses to action. As I see it, we’ve had Revelations, experienced some Revolutions, and are poised to make Resolutions. Come join me. Let’s resolve to do better.

We’re experiencing the Great Unmasking of America, and that has nothing to do with Halloween. The past 5 years have given us the chance to see the real truth behind our masks of partisanship and phony rhetoric. We realize we can only fool ourselves and others for so long. The political dysfunction and covid-19 challenges require us to wear the healthiest mask and remove the other, so we can be most effectively engaged in community re-building. I’ve got great confidence that we can rise to our occasion. Our Country’s counting on us! Perhaps this Mosey Commentary will help you consider your role.

We and Our Country are at a major inflection point. We’ve had a dramatic government leadership deficit in Washington, and the recent Presidential campaign “debate” was a painful reminder of the deficit at the top. Trump was unmoored from his tweets, White House lawn soundbites, and carefully orchestrated rallies. 90 minutes of unfiltered grievance from this big stage showed the world in full what we’ve all seen hints of from numerous sources. Our challenge of responsible citizenship could not be clearer, and the upcoming election is our time to acquit ourselves from letting down our guard in recent years. Join me to consider your role in this democracy-saving challenge. I’ve got confidence in us!

The passing of John Lewis reminds us of the best in public service. He literally dedicated his entire life to fighting for the values we know are desirable for us, our children and our communities. But, most of us fall short in our individual roles in WE THE PEOPLE. Because we’re mortal, not as well informed as we should be, and have allowed our expectations to fall short of our Better Angels. We must raise our games and our expectations, in order to be more aspirational for our sakes and that of our children. Join me in my latest Mosey Commentary adventure. I appreciate your time and attention.

The murder of George Floyd, and the resulting community protests around the Country, should be a catalyst for introspection and soul searching for each of us. It certainly is for me. I’m realizing that while I was well-meaning, I, like many Anglos, could have been much more proactive in my sensitivity to the discrimination and racism that my friends of color have lived with all their lives. With this commentary, I apologize.

At first it seemed that our political chaos and dysfunctional government could be remedied through the ballot box. However, the coronavirus was the heavier shoe to fall, making evident that we have more challenges than just government can handle. We The People need to muster all the resources we can influence, in all walks of life, if we’re going to pull ourselves out of this multi-faceted mess. I’m proposing that we reset the American Dream through a National Renewal Summit. Come join me and see what you think. Thanks in advance for making the effort.
Read moreLET'S REFUSE TO BE APRIL FOOLS ALL YEAR ROUND!
April Fools is usually a time for fun and pranks and mischief. However, this year finds little to take lightly, as the coronavirus is impacting every aspect of our lives. Governments have let us down at every level, and our “leaders” and we find ourselves grossly uninformed and unable to respond responsibly. We’re trying desperately to catch up, while too many lives are being sacrificed for this negligence. Our healthcare workers are our frontline heroes, but our journalists are our critical connection to the facts and truth. Join me as I make the case for our being better informed, and modeling that for others, while we support the journalists that are key to a free and healthy democracy.
