When Will WE THE PEOPLE Rise To Our Occasion? How Can We Get Our Leaders To LEAD?!

Our governance is a sham…at the State and National levels. And it would be laughable and simply disappointing were the incompetence not so dangerous. We shake our heads at each subsequent breach, but the cumulative effect is debilitating for our well-being, and for our children’s future.

Just a Few Examples…At All Levels

…The deadline government shutdown debacle with no effective leadership…too much blame and drama…Republicans responsible, but few Dem leaders stepped up EFFECTIVELY to counter…

…Sen. Tuberville ALLOWED to hold up assignment authorizations for hundreds of military officers

…The Maga Republican Freedom Caucus (Gaetz, MTG, Jordan, et.al) ALLOWED to wag the majority dog…to everyone’s detriment…

…The Uvalde school shooting, where all facets of law enforcement failed to respond as paid and “trained,” and many children lost their lives…

…The Paxton “impeachment” that wasn’t, because Texas Republicans were scared to do the right thing…

…Our widely promoted pledges of desperately needed weapons for Ukraine, when many can’t or won’t be delivered for weeks or months after our press conference pledges. In the interim, many lives are lost daily. We proudly assume we’re helping, when often we’re not.

…The Texas State budget had a large surplus, which was desperately needed for healthcare, education and social justice…yet was spent on Abbott’s ridiculous Operation Lone Star border debacle.

…The nonsense of the attempted impeachment of Biden, because Jordan, McCarthy and others are doing Trump’s bidding to create an “equivalence” between the “Biden Crime Family” and the proven Trump Crime Family. There is no equivalence. The Trumps win this one hands down, and will hopefully be punished accordingly.

We Need Accountability--More Leadership, Less Loudership

We each have family, friends and elected reps who know better, but few are willing to step up to counter the small-minded idiocy. There are too many attorneys who’ve forsaken the tenets of the Constitution and our laws to make some money or curry favor with the power brokers. We keep waiting for THEM to step up and do the right thing. Counter cowardice with courage. We know it’s possible, just too few examples to date. I come from a large family of lawyers. I remain hopeful.

Let’s Call Out The Blame Biden Game And Challenge Those Supposed “Leaders” To Step Up And Serve…

The Republican script requires that Biden be blamed for everything. Meanwhile, the cowardly lions such as Abbott, Cornyn, Cruz, Patrick, McCarthy, McCaul, et.al, refuse to step up and offer to help in issue deliberations that might render bipartisan solutions.

So…What Now?

We have to do better. Neither we nor our elected reps can continue our same old behaviors, expecting better/different results. It starts with our friend in the mirror, and is extended through our appointed and elected reps. If we expect better of them, we need to convince them through our financial support and communication that we expect better. We all need to determine if we are effective, or just busy. There is a big difference. There is much riding on our potential success. May the Gods of Our Understanding bless our efforts.
