HEY, KIDS! IT"S TIME TO LIGHTEN UP FOR THE HOLIDAYS...
WHAT, ME WORRY? WELL YES, THERE’S THAT!
Sure, we’ve got things of which to be concerned. New Covid variants, killer hornets, Cowboys and Longhorns football, Louie Gohmert, Ted Cruz, Gov. Abbott’s power grid, and possible guacamole shortage. However, dwelling on these issues without a break, though they do deserve our attention, will only drain our “chi”, preclude our attention to other priorities, and make our friends in the mirror less enjoyable partners. To everyone. An interim antidote is to learn how to chill, relax, be creative, be silly…whatever it takes to gain perspective and respond accordingly.
This has been a challenging two years, but there are many signs and realities pointing to a less dysfunctional and more productive New Year. In the interim, we’ve got the month of December to smoove our way into 2022. Let’s use family, memories, traditions, dreams and creative thinking to improvise this transition. Here’s a sampler kit from the Carlozzi/Bullock household. ENJOY! Then, be inspired to create your own December playground…in your home, neighborhood, heart and mind. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
A rare Austin snow is always welcome…
In which Rudolph, like many of us, occasionally comes to the end of his rope, and needs to make a break for it. Here, he’s dosed the herd with some of Aunt Lurleen’s tuna casserole and has broken free at last. He was heard to say “ADIOS, MOFOS!, as he rose out of sight.
IN CLOSING FOR NOW…
What an amazing almost two years! Quite a learning curve for most of us. We’ve had more than our share of character building…but also many prompts for gratitude. We’re better for this involuntary experience. And let’s not forget those who’ve experienced tremendous loss. Let’s take what we’ve learned and resolve to be better partners, parents, work colleagues and stewards of our communities. Striving for compassion, inclusion, equity, good humor and humility as we join others in constructive civic engagement…TOGETHER.
